Butter Cake

So rich, so buttery. A little goes a long way.


Recipe from here.

225g unsalted butter, at room temperature
200g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
160g sugar
4 large eggs
4 tbsp whole milk/ yogurt
1 tsp vanilla essence

1. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees.
2. Mix flour and baking powder together, then sieve. Add in salt and mix well.
3. In a different bowl, beat butter and sugar until well combined. Add eggs one at a time until creamy.
4. Add vanilla essence and mix well.
5. Fold in flour and mix well.
6. Add in the whole milk/ yogurt.
7. Pour batter into greased baking pan and shake lightly to distribute batter evenly.
8. Bake for 40-50 minutes, until golden brown and cooked. To prevent the top burning, the cake can be covered with aluminium foil when the top turns dry.
9. Remove from oven and let cool slightly, then serve warm.
